Football Clinics

Our football clinics continue to inspire hope, nurture excellence, and change lives.

The Foundation of Football Clinics

In the late 1980s, the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) began using football as a tool for transformation in the Mathare slums. What started as a grassroots initiative to clean playing fields quickly grew into structured leagues and training programs. By the time Mathare United FC (MUFC) was established in 1994, football clinics had already become a powerful way to nurture young talent while teaching discipline, teamwork, and community responsibility.

Our Purpose

Football clinics are designed to:

  • Nurture Talent – identify and train promising young players.

  • Build Character – instill discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.

  • Empower Communities – use sport as a tool for education, health awareness, and social change.

How the Clinics Work

  • Age Groups: From Under-12 to Over-16, for both boys and girls.

  • Training: Professional coaching in football fundamentals, tactical awareness, and fitness.

  • Pathways: Talented players progress from clinics into MUFC’s youth teams, and some eventually graduate to the senior men’s and women’s teams.

  • Mentorship: Beyond skills, clinics provide life guidance, health education, and environmental awareness initiatives.
