Wasteful Mathare fall to Nairobi United at the Kasarani Annex

Mathare United were unfortunate not to come away with at least a point on Saturday as they battled Nairobi United in the Premier League.
The lads were the better side on the afternoon at the Kasarani Stadium Annexe and had the lion’s share of possession and chances, but could not find their shooting boots as they fell 2-1.
John Makwata, who could have had himself a hat-trick, as one of his missed chances came from the spotkick, scored our consolation in the second half after the NaiBois had sailed to a 2-0 lead thanks to first-half goals from Dancan Omala and Kevin Wangaya.
The loss, the Slumboys’ 13th of the season, continued a worrying trend for the lads as they haven’t been able to win back-to-back matches this season. More pressingly, the result left John Kamau’s men still in the relegation picture as they sit five points above the drop zone.
United remain in 12th place in the table with 34 points heading into the last five games of the season. Up next is a tricky test against bottom club Sofapaka on Friday.
