Makwata returns to first team after compassionate leave

After a two-week break, the lads are back in Premier League action this afternoon and will play host to AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium and the team news from the 3:30 pm kickoff has been revealed.
John Makwata, who has missed the last two matches as he was away on compassionate leave, returned earlier in the week and has been given the nod to start against his former side.
The forward, who has netted two goals thus far since joining the club in midseason, played for Leopards in 2018.
Makwata will have Elli Asieche, our second-leading scorer, as a second striker, with Musa Masika and Isaac Omweri, another mid-season acquisition, on the flanks.
Kevin Ouru maintains his place between the sticks as he seeks his ninth clean sheet of the season and will have the familiar pair of Ian Omondi and Francis Kayugi as his defensive marshals.
Hillary Kiprotich comes in at rightback for his first start of the year while on the opposite flank is teenage sensation Benson Shikutwa.
Dennis Okoth leads all other scorers at the club with five goals and is named in a strong subs bench that also has Daglas Mokaya, John Macharia and Dennis Ng’ang’a among others.
Below is the squad:
Starting XI: K.Ouru (GK), Kiprotich, Shikutwa, Omondi, Kayugi, Ochieng (C), B.Ouru, Asieche, Masika, Omweri, Makwata
Subs: Mboya (GK), Fidel, Asango, Atano, Nyambane, Ng’ang’a, Macharia, Mokaya, Kinyanjui, Amalemba, Okoth
