Kamau concerned by the lack of cutting edge upfront

Mathare United once again came up short in the Premier League after Police FC won the two teams’ matchday 10 showdown at the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday.

Seeking to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season following an impressive victory over Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend, the Slumboys were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal as the reigning league champions came away with a 1-0 victory.

The loss saw John Kamau’s men slip to 15th in the table, settling one point above the relegation zone, and after the game, a visibly frustrated John Kamau had the following to say of his side’s performance.

“We definitely deserved something from this game, and it is unfortunate that we get to go home empty-handed. We played against the defending champions and dominated the game, creating numerous chances, which is a positive. But you see, you can never get a result by only creating chances. You have to make the ones you create count, and it is frustrating that despite the work, we are still yet to figure it out.”

Saturday’s result was the fourth time this season that United had failed to find the back of the net. And in only one instance in that stretch of games have the lads been able to avoid defeat.

With our next league game against Nairobi United being postponed due to Nairobi’s continental engagements, the lads will see this as a timely opportunity, as they now get a prolonged period to work towards improving the team’s conversion rate.
