Mathare United FC

The 2025/26 Premier League season comes to an end this Sunday and Mathare United will welcome Bandari FC in one of the nine matches scheduled for the day.

With the unavailability of a match venue in Nairobi, the match will be played at the Green Stadium in Kericho.

Defeat in the 3 pm kickoff could see the club relegated. It is therefore, a must-win game and Adams Nyamabane has called on his teammates to be solid defensively and to concentrate for the full 90 minutes.

Looking ahead to the match, the midfielder, who is in his debut season in the Premier League said, “We only have 90 minutes to define our destiny. Our season has come down to this one game, and we have to win to wipe out any doubt about playing in the Premier League next season.”

On whether the team has deployed a different strategy in preparing for Sunday, Nyambane added, “Every game has its own approach. We cannot prepare for Bandari the same way we did Ulinzi in our last game. But many things remain similar, one is that we have to remain compact and make sure we keep a clean sheet. If we frustrate Bandari then we know we will win the game.”

The former Nairobi United player joined us halfway through this season, and had struggled to get minutes in the opening half of the season with the NaiBois. This hasn’t been the case for him under John Kamau and now Mohamed Muchulla and last weekend, the utility player was on the scoresheet for the first time in the league as he netted our consolation against Ulinzi.

In discussing the goal, Nyambane admitted disappointment that the goal, which opened the scoring, ended up as a consolation, but in the same breath, insisted that there is plenty of time to get more goals for the club.

United, who are seeking their 11th win of the season, are on 38 points and sit three points above the drop zone.
