Mathare have now moved up to 31 points after the draw

Mathare United earned a crucial point in the Premier League run-in on Tuesday after playing out a 0-0 draw with Police FC at Kasarani Stadium.

John Kamau’s men have now moved to six points above the drop zone with seven games left to play.

Tuesday’s rescheduled match was a tale of missed chances on the part of the Slumboys, who dominated the game and struck the woodwork twice in the second period through Brian Ouru and Junior Nyawir.

Three changes were made to the team that started in the 3-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz almost two weeks ago, with one of those changes allowing Adams Nyamabane to make his full debut for the club.

The midfielder, signed in January, was one of the standout performers on Tuesday, but his afternoon was cut short early in the second half after a wicked fall left him concussed and unable to continue.

United, now in 12th place in the standings, have now moved up to 31 points after the draw and have another crucial match on Saturday against Bidco United, who sit second from bottom.
