Mathare United returns to Premier League action this Tuesday and will welcome reigning champions Police FC at the MISC Kasarani.
John Kamau’s men lost the reverse game by a solitary goal back in November and are looking to avoid a league double to the lawmen and, most importantly, put further daylight between them and the relegation zone.
With eight games left to play, United, who have a game in hand, sit five points above the drop zone.
“We are in a precarious position in the table, and our situation makes every game from here on out a must-win fixture,” Paul Kinyanjui said as he previewed tomorrow’s early kickoff. “Every game is a final for us. The season has been bumpy, but what I can tell our supporters is that we have been giving our all and will continue to do so until the final whistle to conclude the season.
“I am confident we will show this tomorrow, as this is a big game and big games have often seen the team turn up,” added the winger, who scored a late winner in this fixture last season.
Kinyanjui, who joined us during our sole season in the NSL, had a strong Premier League debut campaign last season and finished as one of our top scorers with four goals. His performances made people start to take notice and expect an even better sophomore campaign. But injuries have pegged back the former Gatong’ora FC winger this season, and he has managed just one goal.

“It has been frustrating, but it is the nature of the sport, and all one has to do is just work and take full advantage of every opportunity that comes.”
The lads have a busy week, as after Tuesday’s match, they will again be back in action on Saturday in a crunch tie against relegation-threatened Bidco United.
