Omweri becomes our second signing of the mid-season transfer window

The club is pleased to announce the signing of Isaac Omweri who was most recently attached to Nairobi United.
The winger becomes our second signing this January and joins Michael Oduor in committing his immediate future to the club and it remains to be seen if any of them will make their debuts today against Murang’a Seal.
On signing for the club, the Kibabii High School alumnus said, “I am happy to be here and to be able to continue my career at such a club. Mathare is a historic team and I am happy to be chosen to add to this history.”
Omweri has featured for Nairobi United throughout his entire professional career, joining the team after completing high school in 2021, when the team was still competing in the FKF Division One.
The diminutive winger, revered for his signature, deadly left foot, was a key contributor in NaiBois’ historic 2024/25 campaign, which ended with the team earning promotion to the Premier League as champions, as well as its shock qualification to the CAF Confederations Cup after winning the FKF Cup.
Omweri scored seven goals for his former team in that defining season and added 15 assists.
A former Shabana FC trainee, Omweri, should be well remembered by Mathare fans after his strong display against us when we battled Nairobi in a hotly contested second-leg fixture in the race for promotion in the 2023/24 NSL season.
He scored and assisted in that fixture played at the Mpesa Foundation grounds, but his efforts weren’t enough as Francis Kimanzi’s men sealed a 3-2 win and edged clear in the promotion race.
