Musa Masika backs Mathare United to end poor run against Bidco United

Mathare United will be looking to bounce back in the Premier League when they return to the MISC Kasarani for a second successive matchday, this time playing away to Bidco United.
John Kamau’s men lost to visiting Mara Sugar 1-0 earlier in the week on Monday and will be keen to respond on Friday.
Bidco have the upper hand in this fixture, which was first played in the 2020/21 season, the Oilers’ debut campaign in the top flight.
Coached by Anthony Akhulia throughout their tenure in the Premier League, the Thika-based side has won six of eight meetings.
This record does not make for good reading, but Musa Masika, who is in his first full season as a Slumboy, believes this history means very little when everyone is fully focused on the same goal.
He said, “I can confess that I do not know much about our history with Bidco, as I have played against them as a Mathare player only once. But what I do know is that history can be broken. We have been losing against them, I understand, but that isn’t cast in stone and shouldn’t be the story of this fixture whenever we meet them. We can change this and swing the momentum our way, but we first have to be on the same page as players and understand the task at hand.”
Masika joined the club midway through the 2024/25 season and took to his surroundings like a fish to water, finishing as our top scorer with five goals.
Hoping to continue with that trajectory this term, the Kenyan international suffered a knee injury during preseason and ended up missing the start of the season. He, however, has fully recovered and has started the last three games, providing one assist in this period.
Speaking on the struggles of watching his teammates start the season without him, the attacking midfielder said, “Firstly, I want to thank God for allowing me to recover and get back to the team. Being injured during preseason has been the story of my career. Maybe I am not taking care of my body well enough when we go on break (he said amid a chuckle).
“It was disappointing to get hurt after a strong finish to last season, and I believe if not for this, we would be having a much different season. But that is all water under the bridge now, and we are writing a new chapter,” he concluded.
