Mathare eye back-to-back wins against defending champions Police

Mathare United will seek to make it back-to-back victories in the Premier League for the first time this season when we make the short trip to take on Police FC on Saturday in South C.
The lads, who are unbeaten in their last two outings, are coming off an impressive 2-0 victory over visiting Kakamega Homeboyz. The win, our first this year by more than one goal, bumped us up to 12th in the standings with 11 points, and another victory could see us end this weekend amongst the top three.
Donald Ange was on target against Homeboyz, scoring his first for the season via a sublime header. The forward, who was elated with his goal, feels the win is a sign of things to come from John Kamau’s charges.
He said, “We have been doing everything well with the coaches. Everyone has been devoted to training and in the games. It is just that sometimes it takes longer for what you are doing in the training ground to manifest on the pitch. But now, after our previous games, you can see that we are improving, and I can say we are good to go.
“Confidence is high within the team, and we are heading into the game against Police with only one thing in mind.”

Ange is in his third stint with the club. The Congolese forward first joined the team in the 2022/23 season. He scored six goals in his first spell and then two as he returned to the club in the second half of our promotion campaign from the NSL two seasons ago. He would leave yet again after that season and would return in the second leg of the previous campaign, and he ended up finding the back of the net once.
Speaking on his most recent strike, Ange said, “I first want to give thanks to God as we accomplish everything through his grace and power. I also want to thank my teammates and coaches for their belief. I give a special shoutout to Nyawir (John) for providing the assist.”
“I had stayed so long without scoring, and it had started to take a toll. I cannot say much, only that the goal is a deliverance for me.”
