Mungai, a modern fullback, is also a set-piece specialist

Mathare United is pleased to announce the signing of defender Herit Mungai ahead of the 2025/2026 season. The left-footed fullback pens a one-year deal and joins from FC Talanta.
The Kawangware native, renowned for his set-piece taking ability, scored twice last season from direct freekicks.
Mongaa, as he is commonly referred to by his peers, links up with coach John Kamau, who gave him his first breakthrough as a teenager at FC Talanta eight years ago.
Aside from Talanta, the Dagoretti High School alumnus has also previously played for KCB, Kariobangi Sharks, Nairobi City Stars and Posta Rangers.
On joining the club, Mungai said, “It is a great feeling to be part of such a storied club. Mathare were champions in 2008, and I hope I can be a part of the next generation of players to win a title with the team.”

Mungai, who can also assume an offensive role, will fight it out for a starting spot on the left side of our defence with John Nyawir.
